Chibamba Kanyama

Business Leader/ Consultant (Zambia)

Corporate Leader, public speaker, Published Author, Communications specialist and strategist, Mr Chibamba Kanyama is also a Television personality, Financial Advisor and Specialist, Advisor on Economic Policy, Economist and journalist. His long and illustrious career has included a stint at the helm of the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation(Radio and Television)as Director General between 2012 and 2014.

Mr Kanyama is the founder of Bridges Limited, a consulting firm launched in 2017 and is also Founder and Chairman of Teen Vision Trust Zambia (which hosts annual Creating the Future conferences for nearly 2000 youths and mentors over 10,000 young Zambians in areas of business, finance, personal development and careers).

He has a deep passion for radio; and will share some wisdom with attendees at the Zanaco Lusaka Radio Summit. You won’t want to miss this.

Musa Kalenga

Thought Leader/ Author, South Africa (… and Zambia)

Zambian born author, podcast host, business leader and sought after keynote speaker, Musa Kalenga always has nuggets of wisdom to share with audiences. Formerly Client Partner for Facebook Africa and a man who, in 2012, was voted one of the Top 200 young South Africans by the Mail & Guardian, he embodies what Africa’s future looks like.

He was the Digital Marketing Group Head at Nedbank and is presently the Head of Brands for IAB South Africa (Formerly DMMA) among other positions. Musa’s insights on topics such as consumer behaviour, business growth, social, traditional and digital media are transformational. We are certain that the 2019 Radio Summit attendees are in for a treat.

Masechaba Ndlovu

South Africa

Zambian born broadcaster, Masechaba Ndlovu is a top South African media personality. She hosts The Big Secret on BET and until recently was the host of the Afternoon Drive on national station Metro FM for which she and her co-host Mo Flava won the 2017 Best Afternoon Drive Show award at the annual South African Liberty Radio Awards. Prior to Metro FM, she hosted a talk show on Power FM. She’s anchored many television shows ranging from game-shows, debates, entertainment programs and hard news programs. Masechaba’s robust personality has made her an audience favourite in South Africa. She will use the Radio Summit platform to share her story which we trust will inspire attendees.

There will also be a Q&A component in which attendees can get clarity on salient points that go into producing and presenting compelling radio shows.

Helen Herimbi

Music Journalist/ Podcaster, South Africa

Helen Herimbi is a music journalist, podcaster, voice-over artist and workshop facilitator who is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is a content-generation and content-curation expert. Her entertaining and well prepared presentations often involve the sharing of anecdotes and case studies and are sealed with tangible take-outs that attendees can implement in their personal and professional lives; all so they can better themselves.

Helen has held positions such as editor of music magazine, MTN Xploaded, and the business and arts magazine, Jozi Insider. She has been a web editor at Africa’s biggest pay-tv company and a senior content producer at a free-to-air channel. She writes for the Independent Media Group in South Africa and in the past has contributed to publications such as GQ South Africa, VISI Magazine, Hype Magazine, Rolling Stone South Africa, afriPOP! Mag, BONA Magazine, Essays of Africa and more. 


Mr Linda Manganye

Radio Imaging & Production Expert, South Africa

Arguably the best sound designer in South Africa’s radio industry, Linda Manganye has twice received the Best Radio Imaging Award at the annual South African Liberty Radio Awards (2017 and 2018). He is the owner of Bass Garage Production as well as head of production for Power FM South Africa.

Linda will talk at this year’s Zanaco Lusaka Radio Summit and share tips on how stations can improve their production. He will play examples of his work for the audience and explain his production philosophy. Linda will also hold a radio production and imaging masterclass the day after the Radio Summit.

Melanie Bala

Radio & Television Presenter/ Newsreader, South Africa

Melanie Bala is a veteran broadcaster with two decades in television and radio. Having worked for both the SABC on various entertainment, music and talk shows as on-air talent and in production, She also hosted her own talk show “Let’s Chat…” in 2010. “Let’s Chat…” went on to win a SAFTA (South African Film and Television Awards) for Best Talk Show in 2011. She has also contributed short opinion pieces to Marie Claire and the Mail & Guardian online; And in 2013 contributed to Jacana’s “From Me To Me: Letters To My 16 and a half-year-old Self”, a collection of letters by South African personalities – edited by Samantha Page.

She is currently the news anchor on METRO FM’s Lunch with Thomas & Pearl. Melanie will have an in-conversation styled interview at the Radio Summit where she will share insight into the workings of radio show that’s hosted by a team. Ralf Shimmel

LAWO, Germany

Based in Rastatt, Germany, Ralf is the Director of Africa Sales for broadcast equipment supplier LAWO. The company has supplied equipment and broadcast solutions for a number of radio stations in Zambia. Ralf will make a presentation about IP in Radio and the advantages it enables such as cost and flexibility.

He will also showcase some of the new products that are making waves in the radio industry at the Zanaco Lusaka Radio Summit. LAWO is a Radio Summit Silver Sponsor.

Meck Phiri

BBC Media Action, Zambia

Meck is a seasoned media professional and regular debate moderator who is currently employed by BBC Media Action Zambia as a Mentor-Trainer. He works extensively with Zambian community radio stations. Extensively traversing the country to mentor radio station personnel and having worked as a radio presenter himself, he has an unparalleled understating of the Zambian radio market. Meck has spoken at radio conferences in Uganda and South Africa. He also owns Meck Media Consult.

Meck will host a panel discussion at the Radio Summit. The topic and panellists are to be confirmed closer to the Summit.

Kamiza Chikula

Our Program Director, Kamiza Chikula, is a consummate professional communicator with over two decades of experience in every aspect of Marketing, Public Relations and Corporate Communications. Standing at the height of 1.98 meters (earning him the nickname of “Gentle Giant”), Kamiza is at home on any stage. He possesses an easy smile, a quick wit, an impressive repertoire of verbal and non-verbal communications. He is also the CEO of Feira Communications, one of the esteemed sponsors of The Lusaka Radio Summit.

Chilu Lemba

Voiceover Artist, Radio Presenter & Exec Producer 

Chilu has over two decades of industry experience having begun his career as an on-air presenter at Radio Phoenix in Lusaka. Based in Johannesburg, he is one of the continents top voice-over artists. He co-hosts a podcast series called Key Africans Unlocked & his chart show, The Circuit Break Top Ten airs on Urban Cafe Radio.

Chilu will hold a voiceover masterclass a day after the Summit, sharing wisdom, tips and tricks from his 23-year career. He will also give a talk at the Radio Summit.

He is the founder of The Lusaka Radio Summit.
