Peter Armstrong (Zambia)

MD, Young & Rubicam Zambia

Peter Armstrong, Managing Director of Young & Rubicam Zambia is a highly respected business leader. He has been key in the development of the Zambian Breweries brands, as well as Seed Co, Atlas Mara Bank, Tenga Mobile Money, Colgate Palmolive, MTN, Barclays Bank, Populations Services International, UNICEF in Zambia, Unilever, Sun International and many more. He has worked on numerous DFID and USAID assignments in Zambia.

From his entry into the advertising industry 36 years ago as a copywriter to being at the helm of Zambia’s biggest ad agency, Peter and his teams have implemented strategies for multi-million dollar brands providing everything from strategic input to memorable campaign executions.

Peter Armstrong is a man who has seen it all but still always gives fresh perspectives and insights. Under his leadership, Young & Rubicam’s work as an agency encompasses radio in no small degree, and we are looking forward to hearing Peter’s ideas on impactful radio advertising at the Zanaco Lusaka Radio Summit 2020.

Paulinah Somo (South African/ Zambian based)

Paulinah is a TV & radio producer as well as host, who has been in the media and broadcasting industry since 2005. A passion to create positive change through communication and storytelling drives her work as a broadcaster. 

She started as a Traffic Journalist/Reporter and overnight talk show host on Talk Radio 702 before moving into the television industry in 2008 as a Current Affairs Presenter and Producer on news channel SABC International. Paulinah then took the opportunity to host the breakfast show on business channel Summit TV.

In 2012 she became the House Production Manager for reality TV show Big Brother Africa, building her way up to produce various shows for SABC, Mzansi Magic, BET Africa and Zambezi Magic in Zambia. She is currently one of the producers of the Telenovela, Mpali.

Snooze Kambuwa (South Africa)

Mbeu Kambuwa, popularly known as Snooze, is a Stand-Up Comedian and Creative Director at ad agency FCB Joburg. He is originally from Malawi and based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Snooze has won prestigious awards both in the advertising industry as well as in comedy, a true testament to his all-round excellence. He’s also been a judge at Africa’s leading advertising award show, the Loeries where he judged in the TV and Radio categories for South Africa as well as the Africa and Middle East regions. He is also a genuinely hilarious guy who you may have recently watched on social media or on DSTV, or heard on radio, starring in a number of commercials for brands such as Toyota, Kulula, Coke and Kingprice.

Kamiza Chikula (Zambia)

Our Program Director, Kamiza Chikula, is a consummate professional communicator with over two decades of experience in every aspect of Marketing, Public Relations and Corporate  Communications.

Standing at the height of 1.98 meters (earning him the nickname of “Gentle Giant”), Kamiza is at home on any stage. He possesses an easy smile, a quick wit, an impressive repertoire of verbal and non-verbal communications. He is also the CEO of Feira Communications, one of the esteemed sponsors of The Lusaka Radio Summit.

Steve Gounaris (South Africa)

Steve is – a final mixing, music composing, 5.1 cinema mixing and mastering, sound designing, radio station imaging wizard. He is based at FineTune Studios which is one of South Africa’s premier production facilities. Steve is an award-winning sound engineer with Gold Cannes Lion, Gold Loerie, Wpped Cream and Manchester International Film Festival (MANIFF) awards behind his name. He works with many of the top globally recognized agencies in the world.

Steve also has a wild side with hobbies including superbike racing, mixed martial arts (MMA) and water sports.

Chilu Lemba

Voiceover Artist & Exec Producer

Chilu has two decades of experience as a voiceover artist. Having started his career when voice was recorded onto analog reel tapes, he’s consolidated his place as an in demand artist, even in the era of Digital Audio Workstations. From intimate narration of company training videos where staff use headphones to listen in, to his voice filling stadiums and auditoriums at events such as the Africa Cup of Nations opening ceremony, the Kora All Africa Music Awards or the CNN/ Multichoice Africa Journalist of the Year Awards, his strong voice lends a sense of warmth and sincerity to countless projects annually.

Chilu is in the league of artists whose voices are heard daily across the continent bringing radio commercials, television episodes and public announcements to life.

Meck Phiri (Zambia)

Experienced Creative Radio Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the Zambian Radio industry. Skilled in Radio Management and Training, Training of Trainers, Radio Programming, Marketing Management and Project management.

Meck currently works for BBC Media Action as a Journalist-Mentor. He is also a radio Programmer.

Having worked as a radio presenter and travelled across the country, he has good insight into the Zambian radio market. Meck has spoken at radio conferences outside of Zambia as well.
